Priorities

August 29, 2009

Sometimes I really can’t stand 空姐 for always pulling a fast one on us and making us hand in these assignments at the very last minute or at such inappropriate times. While I’m trying to immerse myself in Thatcherism, Reagonomics, Law of CA, EOS and so on and so forth, I just find it outrageous that we have to hand in assignments on the first week of our prelims. So not sensentive. Then again, knowing it will pay off will still prompt us to do it anyways. BUT STILL! And it’s not just a a few questions! !@#$%^&(__(*&*^# Sometimes, I think the teachers are expecting too much from our class. It’s disconcerting. There’s this unseen onus on everyone of us to do well. We’re really not that brilliant. At least I’m not. It’s just something superfluous.

ARGH!

Danyl Johnson. Remember that name. He may very well go on to win the competition!

X factor’s the British version of American Idol for those who have no clue.

Have a listen. I’ll vet for it. It’ll lift your spirits amidst your revision!

Annoyed

August 23, 2009

The “APPLICATIONS OF INTEGRATION” section of the revision package has LOADS of mistakes. And it’s annoying the hell out of me especially when I can’t decide if I’m wrong or  if the answers are wrong.

Some of the questions are different from those written in the solutions!

Simply outrageous!

On a happier note, Project Runway 6 has premiered! Something else to look forward to each week!

Monolithic

August 19, 2009

Weirdly enough, this word has two meanings.

(a) Of, relating to or resembling a monolith; meaning it’s huge or massive.

(b) Constituting a massive undifferentiated, and often rigid whole.

I guess the word pretty much sums up life for me now.

On one hand, the following months are probably going to be instrumental to my future, placing a gargantuan load on my shoulders.

On the other, I’m really afraid and apprehensive that I’ll run out of steam before the actual examinations leading my life studying and revising every single day. (not that I’ll be able to accomplish that in the first place)

On top of that, I’d really like to prove that I’m capable of better results.

I feel I owe that to my tutors.

This year, the school has been generous with us. And we were lucky.

Clara Lee really saved our Econs after Mr Lee left early last year. She’s great! And Mrs Kong has always been so passionate and involved. I doubt any other teachers marks as much assignments as she does for us. And I’m really grateful. And she doesn’t just stop there, she provides us with detailed explanations and pointers, emphasizing important points relentlessly. And then there’s Mr Tan. I think he’s really a great guy. Funny, smart and undeniably one who knows his stuff. I know he has confidence in us. I believe we can all see it how he behaves around us. And while that’s assuring, it’s pretty frightening and disconcerting at the same time. Of course, there’s Mr Bek. haha. Mr Bek really has character. And I know he trusts us and believes in our ability as well. I guess that makes up for his weaknesses in other areas. lol. Last but definitely not least, there’s Ms Champagne. I’ll admit, the English teachers I’ve had thus far really did inspire me bits and pieces along the way. I’ve always enjoyed English lessons. I think that really constitutes a large part as to why I aspire to do well in it. (albeit I’ve met with setbacks at times too) If I can’t score as well in subjects that I don’t really appreciate, the least I can do is to make up for that in other areas. And Ms Champagne definitely made GP lessons this year insightful and enjoyable. And I hope I don’t disappoint her.

So that’s about it. On a side note, watching Dr Bunhead after school today at LT5 with all that explosions was liberating.

As I type this, there’s a stupid grin sticking onto my face…

Let’s work hard together.
